OUR STORY

Eteros’ founder Aaron McKellar started his career in the marine industry, owning and operating a boat repair and custom boat manufacturing business in Surrey, British Columbia. Over time his interests in manufacturing expanded outside the marine industry, and his belief in “reshoring” jobs back to Canada led him to found Eteros in 2016. Eteros began with a strong engineering foundation, focused on innovation and building superior quality products. Starting with a core group of expert engineers and mechanical designers from diverse backgrounds, it didn’t take long for Eteros’ slogan to become “Divergent Thinking”, as we strive to put a unique, outside-the-box spin on everything we do.

Aaron found a custom manufacturing partner in Ontario whose core values were very much in line with those of Eteros. In 2019, after a year and a half of working closely together, we merged to form a bigger and even more capable custom manufacturing firm with presence across Canada.  Recently, a US final assembly site has been established in Las Vegas, Nevada, and a US manufacturer based in California and Colorado was acquired.  The team is now over 60 people and has established itself as a market leader within its niche.

PHILOSOPHY

We are driven by innovation, creativity, and making the impossible a reality.

We love to surprise our customers with unexpected thoughtfulness in all our products.  Our marketers never have to lie or exaggerate; we require our products to be truly great.

We Reject Mediocrity

Our philosophy extends beyond product design.  From production to marketing to accounting, we strive to think outside the box regarding all aspects of our company.  Everyone at Eteros is expected to challenge existing procedures, suggest a better way, and drive it home.  Our open-door policy and our transparent, honest management style make being heard easy, not intimidating.  We don’t wear suits.  We dislike formalities.  We are not afraid to roll up our sleeves.

Our philosophy applies both internally and externally, as we exude the same values towards our customers and vendors.  We actively seek feedback and open dialogue to create sincere relationships and products that solve real problems.

CORE VALUES

01.
ACCOUNTABILITY

If we say we are going to do something, we do it! This applies not only as an internal company value, but also outward facing, interacting with our customers and vendors. We believe consistent accountability builds trust and strong relationships, internally as a team, and externally as a brand.

02.
GRIT

Giving up is not in our nature. We know that tough problems present obstacles and that every obstacle is an opportunity to learn something new. We understand that having the grit to persevere though an obstacle gives us greater satisfaction when we succeed!

03.
INGENUITY

We delight in providing our customers with thoughtful, often surprising product features and design. Not only reserved for product design, we come up with creative solutions for every facet of our company – from paperwork to production line, marketing to product features – everything can (and should!) be improved upon.

04.
INITIATIVE

At Eteros, you will never hear anyone say, “that’s not my job”. From small things, like tidying up the kitchen or answering a ringing phone, to bigger things, like counting inventory when it’s crunch time, we help each other out without being asked. When time allows, we actively seek out small or big ways to impact the efficiency of our daily tasks.

05.
RESPECT

We respect each other by being genuine and helpful. Our open-door policy and our transparent and honest management style make being heard easy, not intimidating. We dislike formalities. We all work together. We respect each other’s contributions. We check our egos at the door.

ROLE BACKGROUND

The VP Finance is a newly created position which raises the strategic priority of our financial reporting, treasury, and risk-management strategy in 2021.  Eteros has sustained a CAGR of over 140% over the past 3 years.  With this aggressive organic growth and two completed operations in Canada and the US, we see the need to ensure we have our proverbial “ducks” in a row.  We intent to sustain a doubling of the business (each year) over the next 3 years.  We will become the market leader with multiple brands in North America and establish a European and International distribution channel for those brands in the coming years.

We need a pragmatic and personable finance leader who can bring their cross-border experience within a high-growth manufacturing company to help build an efficient team delivering excellent service and driving to create value their internal customers.  You are ambitious and self-directed enough to identify the mentors and tools to succeed in the role while bringing realistic calm get-it-done attitude.  You can help develop others under you and are a natural people person.

Giving the existing stakeholders timely and accurate financial statements are a must for Eteros.  You are comfortable interacting with key relationships for assurance services, legal and banking.  You don’t need to be the star of the show, but you absolutely want the broader team to win and people to notice how well your area of responsibility is organized.
